Saratoga Springs currently has an opening for a Maintenance II –
Parks technician, this is a full time position with the Saratoga
Springs Public Works Department of approximately 40 hours per week.
This position is under the supervision of the Parks Superintendent.
The Public Works Department will try to provide the successful
applicant with opportunities to grow and progress within the
department. This position is responsible for assisting in the
ongoing operation and maintenance of the City's parks,
streetscapes, park facilities, open spaces, and other properties
throughout the City. This position also functions as one of the
City's principal "on-call" employee for after-hours emergencies
related to areas of responsibility and snow plowing. Job
Responsibilities Perform all aspects of turf management, mowing,
line trimming, edging, aerating, fertilizing, herbicide spraying,
overseeding, and sod replacement using a variety of application
equipment and techniques. Provide care and maintenance of trees,
shrubs, and flowers (i.e. planting and proper pruning). Inspect
City parks, play grounds and facilities to identify special
maintenance and care needs. Assist in the repair and maintenance of
equipment, vehicles, and tools. Repair and installs irrigation
systems. Remove graffiti and repairs vandalism of City property.
Clear snow off park sidewalks, trails and other City walkways, and
assist in snow removal of City streets and facilities. Perform
maintenance on snow removal equipment. Performs other duties as
assigned. Qualifications Education & Experience: A High School
Diploma or GED equivalent. Two years of experience. Special
Qualifications & Certifications: Must possess a valid Utah CDL
class A Driver's License, with a Tanker endorsement or be able to
obtain one within 6 months CPR. First Aid Qualified Water Efficient
Landscaper (QWEL) or Certified Irrigation Water Auditor (CLIA)
Equipment training and competency. Roller/loader/back hoe (basic
skills) City Works work order documentation. Certified Utah Non
Commercial Pesticide Applicators License, category 3 Ornamental
turf. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of: City policies
and procedures. Principles and practices of park maintenance .
Modern landscape maintenance and care methods. Basic computer
operations and applications. Correct use of the English language
and vocabulary. Ability to: Interact with the public in all
situations while maintaining a professional, pleasant, and
courteous demeanor. Follow City policies and procedures. Maintain
records and task lists. Operate moderate to heavy equipment that is
needed to perform maintenance duties. Review and interpret basic to
moderately difficult building and construction plans for public
utility systems. Communicate in a concise, effective and
professional manner by telephone, in writing, and in person.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with
developers, contractors, citizens, coworkers, and supervisors. ·
Exercise sound and good judgment at all times, but especially in
emergency situations. Direct and work with Seasonal employees.
Perform tasks with an attention to detail and a high level of
accuracy. Utilize basic functions in Microsoft Office software
programs including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet Explorer.
Utilize specialized software including, but not limited to, City
Works. Manage heavy workloads, prioritize, and multitask. Be a team
player. Problem solve. Manage stress. Work independently with
general supervision. Understand and carry out written and oral

vibration. Compensation and Benefits Wage Range: The full wage
range is as follows, please note that hiring will normally occur at
the minimum of the range and will not exceed the midpoint. Minimum
- $22.37/hr. Midpoint - $26.84/hr. Maximum - $31.32/hr. Benefits:

Public Retirement System (pension). In addition, the City does not
participate in Social Security so no Social Security taxes are
deducted from your paycheck. In lieu of the City's Social Security
contributions, the City contributes 6.2% of salary into a 401(k)
retirement plan. Leave time benefits include 120 hours of paid time
off (PTO) accrued annually, 40 hours of short-term medical accrued
annually, and 11 holidays annually. Schedule Monday - Thursday: 7
